The shock. The awful pain. Being transported up to 100kms in the back of a rattling old vehicle across dried out river beds (not proper roads) to the nearest hospital. No food provided in the hospital, we have to rely on family or friends to bring us food.

Yet, surviving all this does not make us a hero with our picture and story proudly shown on a TV news programme or in the newspaper.

Instead no-one can bear to look at us. We have become one of Cambodia's estimated 40,000 chon pika - or amputees. With a population of around 11.5 million, Cambodia has one amputee for every 290 people - one of the highest ratios in the world.

There is no welfare system to provide for us. Many shops won't serve us and no-one is likely to employ us.

In shame we are forced to beg.. Our life would seem without hope without a future.

The RTC (Reverse the Curse) approach is to provide counselling, training, skills and employment for landmine survivors. In providing these resources we are giving landmine survivors a hand up, so they can hold their head high as they provide for themselves and their families.

RTC is seeking to raise the necessary funding to complete the factory that will provide employment for many landmine survivors. Our current facility is no longer big enough but we need approximately US$500,000 to build the new factory.

Please partner with us to complete this new stage of RTC Cambodia's development. In doing so, you will be blessed with the knowledge that you are making a difference to countless disadvantaged and damaged lives and the future prosperity of the nation of Cambodia.
